Christmas Tea Parties

In December, KMC hosted a very successful Christmas Afternoon Tea with Carols, attended by more than 50 people. This was inspired by a similar tea in Cranleigh and in line with our aim to increase our outreach locally. We welcomed members of our own church and guests from the community, many of whom are regulars at our monthly coffee mornings. A good time was had by all, with Christmas quizzes and a delicious spread kindly donated by church members. Carol singing was led by our own Worship Group.

One of the guests commented: ‘What a welcome! A lovely Christmas atmosphere awaited the guests. The tables all decorated with crackers and central table decoration. The Christmas tree shining brightly in the room. Everyone was warmly welcomed and shown to a table. The tables were laden with nibbles, sandwiches (all labelled with flags to show their contents), cakes, mince pies and of course Christmas cake! Everyone enjoyed pulling the crackers and most wore the hats. Carol singing was enjoyed by all and having the words up on a screen was a bonus! All in all a great success. Thank you to all the organisers.’

We are hoping to hold a similar event before next Christmas.

In January we held a children’s party, outreaching to families in Knaphill.  An entertainer taught juggling skills to children, their parents and church helpers and some of us displayed hidden talents and learnt new skills!  After a fun-filled afternoon and party tea, the children all went home with balloons and party bags filled with ‘goodies’.
